A hostel is a budget-friendly, social way of travelling where accommodation is often shared. While some solo rooms are offered, rooms will sleep 4-10 people in a dormitory-style setup. Bathrooms, social spaces and other amenities are shared.
Check in is any time from 14h00 onwards and check out is any time before 10h00.
Should you be travelling with children under 16 years old, you will need to book a whole dorm or private room. Please contact us in advance to help make arrangements.
We can accommodate early arrivals, subject to availability. Check-ins between 06h00 and 12h00 will, however, incur a half-day charge.
Late check-outs are also possible, subject to availability, up to 18h00 and will incur a half-day rate. Check-outs after 18h00 will be charge the whole-day rate.

We reserve the right to dispose of any luggage or items not claimed after the maximum storage period allowed. Guests who wish to leave their luggage five days or more are required to sign a waiver.
We provide lockers in all rooms that can fit most full-sized luggage (within reason). You can use your own lock or purchase one at reception for R40.

We do not recommend guests walk from the station for safety reasons. Get in touch with us (email stay@curiocityjoburg.com) to organise a pickup at a nominal fee.

Joburg is like any major world city and you’ll only need to take the same precautions you’d take anywhere else. The Maboneng precinct we’re in is one of the safest areas within the city itself and a great place to find your feet before you head out exploring further.
A lot, that’s what. Our immediate precinct, Maboneng (www.mabonengprecinct.com), is a thriving inner-city revival neighbourhood with loads of places to shop, eat, explore, and be inspired. We offer a range of tourst and activities within the city and further afield so just ask at reception if you want to know more.
The premises at 302 Fox Street was originally the premises of Pacific Press, whose owners printed the publications for The Black Sash Movement as well at the ANC’s Fighting Talk publication during the apartheid regime (at no small risk). It is rumored that Nelson Mandela, Joe Slovo and Tokyo Sexwale took refuge in the building on several occasions.
