To our curious travel community,

In light of the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, we want to reassure you that our team are doing everything they can to make your stays and visits as comfortable as possible.

As always, your health and safety is our highest priority. We have been carefully monitoring the guidance from our government as well as global and local health authorities and have put precautionary measures in place at all CURIOCITY sites so we can continue to serve our community in the best way possible.

What measures are CURIOCITY taking to keep guests and staff safe?

Across sites, we will continue to implement our existing, stringent hygiene protocols along with new safety measures which have been added to mitigate further risk.

Upon entering our properties, we require all persons to have their hands sanitized with a disinfectant. Sanitizers are available in all common areas including the front desk and bar. We ask everyone entering and leaving our sites to wash your hands on a proper and frequent basis to help combat the spread of the virus.

Under normal circumstances, our team works hard to keep our common areas and bedrooms clean and hygienic and in these testing times, we have significantly amplified our efforts.

Our properties always use cleaning products which are effective against viruses to sanitise our sites.

Our dorm room stays are kept to a very lean & minimum number of people per room with those who have no symptoms whatsoever and have been tested negative [only those who are able to present a tested certificate will be allowed to stay in our dormitories].

Can I cancel or reschedule my booking with CURIOCITY?

We understand this is a stressful time and we remain committed to offering you flexible booking options. If you have booked via our website, you are able to reschedule your booking with us.

If you have booked via an OTA or travel agent, please get in touch with the individual booking provider for further information on their policies.

If you would like to cancel your booking altogether, please contact the property you were planning to stay at and they will be able to assist you.

Am I able to stay at CURIOCITY?

Yes, we are currently open and you can stay at any of our four properties.

While we encourage all travellers to follow the CDC’s travel guidelines, we understand that each person’s individual situation is unique. If you do decide to stay with us, we will absolutely do our best to keep you safe and healthy during your stay.

If you need to self isolate, you are able to check in to one of our private apartments at The 12 Decades Hotel in Johannesburg and CURIOCITY Cape Town at a 20% discount to our normal rates. Under these circumstances, this would be for a 15 day minimum stay.

How can I support CURIOCITY during this time?

If you would like to help our teams through this difficult time, you can donate here. All donated funds will help ensure that our team are able to get at least a basic wage and can continue to make ends meet for themselves and their families.

Another way to support us during this time would be to book a future inner-city walking tour in any of our destinations – Cape Town, Joburg and Durban. We are currently offering these tours at half price – so you’ll pay R225 per person instead of R450pp – and bookings will be valid from 1 July 2020 until 2021.

These advance bookings will help us to keep our talent and maintain operations at our sites.

Can I still book a stay at CURIOCITY for later in the year?

Yes, and we hope you do. We understand that in such uncertain times, you would be hesitant to organise future travel plans so we want to let you know that all new reservations will be under our usual, flexible terms.

As a brand who specialises in shared experiences and places an importance on fostering connection between travellers, we hope this pandemic comes to pass very soon so we can all get curious and explore our cities again.
