YOUTH-LED HOSPITALITY & TOURISM
Bheki Dube is the Founder and CEO of CURIOCITY Africa, a new-generation hospitality and travel brand redefining how people experience African cities. Starting his entrepreneurial journey as a walking tour guide in Johannesburg at the age of 16, Bheki transformed a passion for storytelling, culture, and urban exploration into one of Africa’s most innovative hybrid hospitality concepts.
At just 21 years old, he launched the first CURIOCITY property in Johannesburg — pioneering a model that blended design-led accommodation, co-living, cultural immersion, local storytelling, and community-driven experiences long before “hybrid hospitality” became a global trend. Today, CURIOCITY Africa has evolved into a multi-city hospitality and travel movement connecting travellers, creatives, entrepreneurs, and digital nomads to authentic African experiences.
Bheki is widely recognised as one of South Africa’s leading tourism disruptors, challenging traditional hospitality models and pushing the industry toward a more experience-led, culturally connected, and socially conscious future. His work sits at the intersection of travel, creativity, urban culture, tourism innovation, and African storytelling — creating spaces that feel less like sterile hotels and more like living cultural ecosystems.
In recognition of his impact on the tourism and hospitality industry, Bheki was awarded the Minister’s IDOTOURISM Lilizela Tourism Award for Best Tourism Entrepreneur in South Africa in 2019 — the country’s highest tourism accolade. He was also recognised with the Tropics Game Changers Award (2018–2019), named among the Times Top 200 Young Entrepreneurs, and has received numerous accolades celebrating his contribution to entrepreneurship, tourism innovation, and youth-led business leadership in Africa.
Driven by a vision to build one of Africa’s leading travel brands, Bheki continues to champion youth entrepreneurship, inner-city regeneration, collaborative tourism ecosystems, and the future of African travel. Through CURIOCITY, he is not only creating places for people to stay, but building platforms that shape how Africa is experienced, understood, and shared with the world.
