If you didn’t already know, CURIOCITY is opening another Apart-Hotel in Cape Town!
Our new digs are in the vibrant Gardens neighbourhood, up on Kloof Street.
Kloof Street boasts a deep pool of artisanal and cultural attractions, which is exactly why we chose it for our next CURIOCITY. We’ve put together a guide to help you navigate your way with ease. We did the hard work, so you don’t have to.
This vibrant thoroughfare is riddled with diverse restaurants and chic cafés, and we’ve hand-picked a few of our favourites.
Cafés & Restaurants
CAFÉ PARADISO
First up are our neighbours, and we may or may not be biased, Café Paradiso! This amazing restaurant features rustic finishes and a warm, intimate ambiance. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the best local and international cuisine, a glass of wine with friends, or a cozy date.
It’s also very family-friendly, so feel free to bring your little ones along and indulge in the
uniquely pleasant vibe and menu.

JUDD’S LOCAL & VADIVELU
These two are directly across the street from us, and in no specific order:
JUDD’S LOCAL
Judd’s Local is a family-run eatery and wine bar with carefully curated touches in both its atmosphere and food offerings. The Judd’s believe strongly in the power of simplicity and authenticity without compromising on quality, and this shines through in their menu, which offers local cuisine with a big emphasis on excellence.
Let’s talk about their wine… As the Judd’s would say, “wine is more than just a drink; it’s an art.” Alongside a fantastic wine list, the restaurant features a wine shop offering a curated selection of the finest local wines, allowing you to take a piece of the experience home.
Locals and international travellers alike, it’s safe to say that Judd’s Local is CURIOCITY Certified!

VADIVELU
“Indian. With Attitude.”
Their slogan becomes evident the moment you step in and are greeted by sage and terracotta walls, jungle wallpaper featuring tigers and tropical birds, pistachio banquettes, pale-wood chairs and tables, and gorgeous Mervyn Gers tableware.
Their menu is easy to navigate and offers an intriguing selection of authentic South Africanly Indian cuisine. They also have a short wine list with a well-chosen selection of personal favourites designed to blend nicely with the spices, with plenty of options available by the
glass.
Vadivelu is CURIOCITY Certified!

Now moving on to Cafés…
BOOTLEGGER COFFEE COMPANY
Right on our hip, you will find Bootleggers, a boutique coffee shop which is part of a chain born proudly out of Cape Town! Bootlegger is renowned for its exceptional coffee, sourced from the finest beans and roasted to perfection out in Ndabeni. The cozy, modern atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to start your day, catch up with friends, or get some work done.
Their menu doesn’t stop at great coffee; you’ll also find a delicious selection of freshly prepared food, from hearty breakfasts to light lunches, all made with locally sourced ingredients.
And yes, Bootleggers is CURIOCITY Certified, guaranteeing a top-notch coffee experience you won’t want to miss!

TAMBOERS WINKEL
Just around the corner from us, we have one of Cape Town’s favourite coffee and breakfastspots. Tamboers Winkel is a cute little café/mini bakery/mini wine bar with a wealth of character infused into it. The old-school woody and neatly rugged finishes give you a homey feeling. They are proud champions of local products, with most of their foods and wines locally sourced and made!
As you step inside Tamboers Winkel you’ll find a charming atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and welcoming. Whether you’re stopping by for their freshly baked pastries in the morning, a hearty breakfast, or a relaxing glass of local wine in the evening, it promises a taste of authentic Cape Town hospitality.
Definitely CURIOCITY Certified!

OUR LOCAL
“Imagine the perfect brunch in your botanist best friend’s greenhouse.” That should give you a brief idea about the kind of atmosphere Our Local offers. It’s a nursery in an antique store with a banger toastie and artisanal cocktail menu!
Walking in, you’re greeted by a wave of freshness and an aesthetically encapsulating experience. This unique hideaway blends an Italian design style with a South African twist, offering a serene escape in the heart of the bustling city life.
And of course, Our Local is proudly CURIOCITY Certified, and it might be one of our favourite spots.

Bars & Clubs on Kloof
The beauty of Kloof Street lies in its contrasts. While Upper Kloof offers serene and calm getaways, just down the road exists a buzzing nightlife scene. Let’s get into it!
MIXA’S
Mixa’s is the kind of place where the locals gather for after-work drinks, to unwind and share a good laugh. The environment, the vibes, and the people embody the classic makings of a proper dive bar. With its laid-back atmosphere and unpretentious charm, Mixa’s invites you
to relax, enjoy a drink with friends, and immerse yourself in the authentic spirit of Kloof Street’s nightlife.
Their menu features a variety of affordable drink options, from classic cocktails to local craft beers, ensuring there’s something to satisfy every taste without breaking the bank. If you want to grab something to eat, Mixa’s also offers a good selection of tasty bar snacks and
light bites.
Another CURIOCITY Certified spot!

BLONDIES
They say blondes have more fun, and that’s certainly true at Blondies Restaurant.
By day, it’s a relaxed Mediterranean-style restaurant with a phenomenal food menu and vibe. But when the sun goes down, Blondies turns up the energy by at least 50 notches. It becomes the hub for great music and unmatched vibes, which explains why it has become a favourite local hangout. Once you step in, you’re likely to spend the whole night there.
It’s not just CURIOCITY Certified, it’s a definite “must-try” for unforgettable memories!

ASOKA
Last on this list but certainly not least, we have “The OG”!
A revamped Victorian house decorated with a lavish helping of eastern promise, Asoka is an atmospheric bar and restaurant built around a 150-year-old, fairy-lit olive tree on Kloof Street. There’s live entertainment on a regular basis at the bar, and on a Tuesday, some of Cape Town’s top jazz musicians grace the small, cozy corner to soothe crowds seated around the in-house living tree.
Asoka’s menu offers a delightful fusion of Mediterranean and Asian-inspired dishes, from tapas-style plates to flavourful mains and innovative cocktails, each item on the menu reflects their commitment to sheer quality and dining pleasure.
Asoka no doubt receives the CURIOCITY Certified stamp!

If you made it this far, we really appreciate you, and you get a CURIOCITY Certified Stamp as well. Haha!
