This is not a hike. It is a return.
A Black Founder’s Expedition to an Ancient Waterfall is a full day immersion created for everyone; creatives, hikers, cultural leaders, ceo’s who are building, carrying, and becoming — often without pause. Set within the ancient mountain corridors of Bainskloof, the journey follows a slow passage from city to mountain, from noise to listening. Walking through fynbos and stone, voyageurs are invited to reconnect with an inner reservoir — symbolised by a secluded waterfall and natural rock pools — a place of replenishment, clarity, and ancestral memory.
The experience is intentionally simple. Movement and stillness. Silence and conversation. Water and fire.
The Day Unfolds
07:30 – 8:00 — Departure from Cape Town
A collective departure as the city gives way to mountain roads. The journey begins before the walking does.
09:00 — Arrival at Bainskloof
Grounding, breath, and orientation. A quiet acknowledgement of land and presence.
09:30 – 12:00 — A Conscious Hike
A measured hike through mountain paths. Periods of silence, paired walking, and gentle prompts exploring purpose, endurance, and release.
12:00 – 14:00 — The Ancient Waterfall
Arrival at the waterfall. Time softens. A simple picnic. Optional cold-water immersion. Writing, reflection, rest. No instruction — only permission.
14:00 – 16:00 — A Contemplative Return
The return journey allows insights to settle naturally, carried by the rhythm of movement.
16:30 – 19:00 — Fire & Breaking Bread
An unhurried braai at McBain’s. Shared food, drinks, stories, laughter. Community without performance.
19:00 — Slow drive to Cape Town As the day closes, the mountain recedes — but the water travels with us.
This journey is for those who understand that clarity is not forced.
It is remembered.
The mountain does not hurry.
The water does not convince.
And yet, over time, both shape everything.
